Whilst Keira's Quality Crosses Cause Chaos!

Berrow Under 14 Girls took a massive step towards their first ever League Title with a comprehensive win again 2nd place Wellington this Saturday. The girls set themselves up for what was sure to be a close game, with Wellington the only team to have beat them this season. But the fortress that is Red Road, was just to much for the away team, with Berrow completing their Home games for the season with a 100% record. Playing and winning all 11 home games at Red Road, scoring 50 goals and only conceding 10, which is a great achievement for any team, at any standard.
Back to this game, Berrow knew winning this would really put them in pole position in the race for the championship, and win they did in a pretty comfortable manner, 6-0!
Both halves went without incident with the girls scoring 3 either side of half time the first coming when Holly latched onto a long pass from Elsa to coolly make it 1-0. Keira, returning from injury, was a constant thorn in the side of the wellington defence, with a series of pinpoint corners delivered into the danger area, eventually leading to an error when the defender couldn't deal with the Keira cross and scored an own goal to make it 2-0. It didn't take long until Evie, playing her 6th game for Berrow, picked up a loose ball and rocketed a strike high into the net to give Berrow a 3-0 half time lead.
Credit to the Berrow girls, they came out in the second half determined to finish the game off, and they did that with a repeat of the first half. Keira crossed for Evie to bundle the ball home, another own goal put the game out of reach for sure, and when Holly broke free to make it 6-0 everyone breathed a sigh of relief as the game was well and truly done.
This was a great team performance, but a special mention has to go to Rose in goal. She has stepped in to replace Lacey. which are big gloves to fill, but keeping two clean sheets in a row shows that she is more than ready and capable when needed. Everyone got plenty of minutes on the pitch which is also a bonus in what could of been a much tougher game if Berrow were not 100%.
Girl of the Game was given jointly to Keira for an excellent return after injury, which some spectacular dead ball deliveries. Also, Rose who kept Wellington out for the entire game (the first game they have not scored in all season), but also for her much improved kicking which is a great weapon and relieves pressure when needed. Well done Everyone!!
